Virginia Beach native Luke Hillier is not only the CEO of a leading supplier of operational equipment and logistics solutions, Atlantic Diving Supply, Inc., but is also a major benefactor to various charities. After starting ADS, Inc., Hillier was nominated Chairman by its Board of Directors, Hillier assumed the role of CEO, a position he holds today.
Hillier, along with ADS, Inc., has been a tireless supporter of charities like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hampton Roads, which recently held its ADS Angel Tree Party in mid-December 2010. Over 130 children received toys and clothes, which were all generously donated by ADS employees. Troy Clifton, ADS’ Director of Community Relations, commented, “Luke Hillier and Dan Clarkson, our CEO and COO, are not only passionate about our company, but also about giving back. I’m thrilled to let the kids of the Boys and Girls Club know that there are people out there who really do care,” about the company’s involvement in local charities.
Luke Hillier is also a co-founder and board member of the Hillier-LaRose Foundation, which seeks to raise public awareness about cancer treatments and also give back to the community. Recently, the foundation partnered with ORPHANetwork. ORPHANetwork is a non-profit group working to enhance the lives of Nicaraguan orphans. A trip taken by the Hillier-LaRose Foundation’s board members to Central America illustrated orphanages’ desperate need for support.
The Foundation has made aid contributions to help manage the cost of housing, education and salaries for orphan workers. Last year, Luke Hillier made a personal donation to pay for a holiday meal and birth certificates to Hogar de Fe, the foundation’s chosen orphanage. “In Nicaragua, you cannot get a real job, driver’s license, or go to college without a birth certificate. You essentially don’t exist without this document. This donation from Luke will mean so much to the children of Hogar de Fe,” the Executive Director of ORPHANetwork commented about Hillier.
